In 1924, Sacred Heart began as small mission of St. Joseph Parish in Baton Rouge. Sacred Heart has the distinction of being the first church parish in Baton Rouge to build a school. Founded in 1962, the Special Education Program serves the Diocese of Baton Rouge by providing special education centers. The Program serves both Catholic and non-Catholic students from the ages of 6 to 21 who have been identified with an exceptionality according to the Louisana Department of Education, Bulletin 1508. In Fall of 2007 Fr. Tom Ranzino began work on parish – wide strategic planning. After several years of planning, a capital campaign began in  Fall of 2012 to raise money for the first phase of construction. This first phase included paying the parish debt for the church, building a parish/school gymnasium and building a porte cochere in front of the church. Once cash on hand reached $1.5 million construction began in January 2015 with plans for completion in January 2016.  The school is now comprised of two sections each of grades kindergarten through eighth with a total enrollment of approximately 430 students. St. Jude the Apostle School was founded in 1983 through the Diocese of Baton Rouge to provide quality Catholic education to the children of St. Jude Parish. Our facilities have grown to include a full-service cafeteria, art room, music room, library/media center, and state-of-the-art computer and science labs. St. Joseph School was established in 1896 to serve the Catholic students of St. Joseph Church Parish. It has been a landmark of the Ponchatoula area for generations. The school is operated by the church parish which for years has been served by the Dominican fathers. For many years the Notre Dame Sisters served as administrators and staffed the school. Presently the school is staffed by thirty professionals with several classroom aides and a full-time computer moderator. The school serves 384 students and their families.
